The quote informs me that education has two main objectives: to obtain knowledge and create good habits. By creating good habits you can essentially make good judgments about and spread the information that you’ve obtain to people.
This quote has perfectly exemplified a time when I was learning a song on the guitar and I took the initial steps in learning that song appropriately. Now, this song was meant to teach a player how to make certain hand movements and usually I play songs my way but I told myself that I was not going to develop bad habits by doing it my way, so I played it the regular way. Afterwards I thought the song to kid that I felt couldn’t do it but my gut told me just teach the kid. And so I did and he learned it.
